SASETA is the Illinois law governing the emergency health care and evidence collection procedures for hospitals trating sexual assault survivors.
Rules and regulations are set forth by the Illinois Department or Publich Health, the Illinois Department of Healthcare & Family Service govers the financial aspects of SASETA.
The survivor should have a private exam room or a private waiting area to be provided within minutes of arrival.
An appropriate medical and gynecological exam is to be performed.
Oral and written information concerning the possibility of infection, STIs and pregnancy should be given.
Medication to prevent STIs and Plan B (The morning after pill)
